“Damn Alexander Zverev!”: Jimmy Butler Supports German Tennis Star During French Open 4th Round Match After NBA Finals Game 2 Win

The Miami Heat continues to shock the NBA world. After eliminating the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and the mighty Boston Celtics in previous rounds, Jimmy Butler and co. have accomplished a brilliant feat after winning Game 2 of the NBA Finals. After securing the road win against the Nuggets, Miami now has the most number of postseason wins(13) in a single season as an #8 seed. Erik Spoelstra’s boys are really putting on a show and flaunting the impact of the iconic ‘Heat Culture’.

While Jimmy Buckets has been performing his heart out, he recently revealed his source of inspiration to perform at the highest level. Butler stated that he recognized greatness in other athletes around the world, such as tennis stars Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Serena Williams. Jimmy disclosed: “Sascha [Alexander Zverev] tennis, Carlito [Carlos Alcaraz] tennis, Serena [Williams], everybody. I love greatness in any way that you view it.”

The Heat star is also fascinated by the skills of Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr. Congratulating Butler, Neymar Jr. had posted a photo on his Instagram after the Eastern Conference Finals concluded.

Even though Butler is in the midst of the biggest series of his career, he has been actively following the French Open as well. Earlier, he was seen commenting on Coco Gauff’s win in her 3rd round battle in Paris after Game 1 of the NBA Finals. And now, after tying the series up 1-1 following a road win against the Denver Nuggets, the two-way star is cheering on Alexander Zverev.

Butler initially posted a story on his Instagram which included a clip of him watching the World No. 27 live. Seemingly pretty impressed by the German’s prowess on clay, the six-time All-Star exclaimed “Damn!”, after Zverev won a tough point.

Miami’s leader also shared a reel posted by the official Roland Garros account, that contained a montage of Zverev’s shots from the 4th round clash. Sascha suffered a horrific ankle injury during the 2022 French Open semifinal clash against Rafael Nadal. After being out of the tour for the remainder of the 2022 season, the big man is gradually working his way back to the top 10 in the rankings.

Defeating Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3, Zverev has clinched a spot in the QF of the French Open for the 3rd consecutive time. He will now face Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry for a place in the SF.

As for Butler, who is already playing with a sprained ankle, things haven’t been as smooth as they were at the start the postseason. Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless recently claimed on “UNDISPUTED” that Jimmy’s father’s deteriorating health could play a huge factor in his fall in production. However, watching his friends Zverev and Carlos excel in the French Open could be a huge motivator for Butler as the NBA Finals action now shifts to Florida.

“Jimmy is a clown, so am I”: Zverev

Butler and Zverev seem to be huge fans of each other’s games. Despite being two polar opposite characters, they seem to cherish each other’s company.

During the 2022 Miami Open, the then-World No. 4 had opened up about his relationship with the Heat Star. Have a look at what Zverev had to say:

“He’s (Butler) crazy, man. The guy is absolutely crazy, but I love him. He’s incredible, I mean, we met for the first time at Wimbledon. He was at one of my matches and since then we kind of, I don’t know, we kind of got it going. Yeah, it’s been great having someone like him… So, it’s great to have someone like that. But yeah at the end of the day, he’s a clown, so am I.”

With Zverev chasing his first-ever Grand Slam trophy and Butler only 3 wins away from lifting his first NBA championship, the two athletes seem to be in similar positions. It’ll be interesting to watch these two closely in their respective fields for the upcoming week.
