Stephen Curry is widely celebrated for his exceptional shooting skills and ball-handling wizardry rather than his leaping ability. However, during the 2016 All-Star Game, Kevin Hart learned the hard way not to underestimate Curry’s hops either. The comedian foolishly taunted Steph claiming he can’t dunk. But the Chef showed him otherwise.

The 2016 All-Star Game was a memorable event. It was a special occasion as it marked the NBA’s 65th All-Star Game. And K-Hart made it all the more special. He even participated in a 3-point contest against Draymond Green injecting humor and comedy into the event. This paired with the fun little bets he made with players on the side made for quite the spectacle.
Stephen Curry once made Kevin Hart look foolish by dunking in the 2016 All-Star Game
The 2016 All-Star Game was absolutely amazing. The superstars were hooping, the crowd was excited, and the celebrities were in attendance. Perhaps the biggest name at the game that night, apart from the players themselves was comedian Kevin Hart.
Hart was having a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend from start to finish. However, there was one moment during the All-Star Game that nearly ruined his night. And, it involved the best shooter in the world, Stephen Curry.
As he sat beside Steph in a video he released on his YouTube channel, Hart discussed the fateful event of that night. Having had a few too many drinks, the comedian was in a playful mood and was going back and forth with all the players. And, one of those players was Curry. In fact, Hart made a bet with the Warriors star that he couldn’t dunk, and was quite confident in himself. But, the Chef proved him wrong.
“Do you remember the All-Star Game where I said something stupid, ‘You can’t dunk! I own you!’ The next play you didn’t tell nobody, you didn’t talk to nobody. Slash to the basket, backdoor pass. I said, ‘I hope he doesn’t ask what I offered him!’ This makes me uncomfortable, and I said, ‘But he dunked! I didn’t think he had it in him.’ I was like, ‘How the f**k did he do that!'”
It certainly must have been a fun interaction. And, was definitely a tad bit awkward, given Hart doesn’t even remember what he bet. But, this wasn’t the first interaction he had with Steph.
Kevin Hart was the last person Steph saw in New York before flying out to San Francisco in 2009
The 2009 NBA Draft saw Stephen Curry get selected by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh overall pick. It was a big deal for Steph and an even bigger trip, seeing as he had to travel from New York, where the draft took place all the way to San Francisco in a matter of hours. But, it was here that he had his first interaction with Kevin Hart.
As Steph describes it, Kevin was the last person he saw before boarding the flight to the Bay Area, where he would make history.
“First time we met, 2009, in New York City. About two hours after the NBA Draft on June 25th. We showed up in line, nobody knew who we were, and I walked right up there with my draft hat on. I’ve never had somebody welcome us with open arms like you did. And, you took care of your boy. I ended up pulling an all-nighter, getting on the plane to come right out here to the Bay Area and the rest is history. You’re the last person I saw on the way to the airport.”
It’s a great story, one that both Steph and Kevin will remember forever. Since that day, both have gone onto do great things. Curry, a two-time MVP, four-time NBA Champion, and all-time leader in three pointers. And, Hart, a wildly successful comedian and actor.
