“Don’t Draft Brandon Miller”: Getting a $2,725,000,000 Payday, Michael Jordan’s Involvement in Hornet’s Draft Pick Gets Strong Message From FS1 Analyst

After being the owner of the Charlotte Hornets for 13 years, Michael Jordan finally decided to call it quits. Purchasing the North Carolina franchise for $275 million in 2010, Jordan sold the team for a staggering $3 billion evaluation, managing to earn $2,725,000,000 from this venture. Even though he isn’t the owner of the team anymore, The Charlotte Observer’s Rod Boone recently revealed that MJ will have the final say in the organization’s decision with their #2 pick in the upcoming draft. Several pundits have been making their preference between the two possible picks – Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller. Following the latter’s Paul George-GOAT take, an FS1 analyst hilariously suggested that the Hornets don’t draft the Alabama star.

While Victor Wembanyama was always a lock at the #1 spot, Henderson was heavily favoured to get picked second. However, over the past few weeks, reports have suggested that the Hornets’ front office is inclining towards Miller. With reports indicating all possibilities, it is still unsure as to who the #2 pick is going to be.

Chris Broussard was one of the many who trolled Brandon for his recent GOAT take. Jokingly questioning the youngster’s opinions, the analyst issued an indirect warning to Jordan and co.

Chris Broussard mocks Brandon Miller for his GOAT take

During the recent media day, Brandon Robinson of Bally Sports asked the 20-year-old about his opinions on the oversaturation of the MJ-LeBron conversations. As surprising as it seems, the projected top 3 pick would go on to dismiss both the legends and hailed Paul George as his GOAT.

“I actually don’t think LeBron is the GOAT of basketball. My GOAT of basketball is Paul George.”

As expected, social media erupted with different reactions to the 6-foot-9 forward’s comments. While there were a few users who backed the exciting prospect, Broussard was among the group of people who trolled him.

On the recent episode of First Things First, the 54-year-old hilariously claimed that he wouldn’t draft Brandon Miller. Questioning his opinions after calling PG his GOAT, Broussard was stumped.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, he’s obviously saying his favorite player is Paul George. If he were saying that Paul George is actually the GOAT that would make me not draft him. Paul George is the GOAT?! It’s his favorite player, I’m cool with that.”

George is one of the best scorers of this generation and is also pretty effective on the defensive end. However, while meaning no disrespect, the Los Angeles Clippers star is far away from being in the same stratosphere as James and Jordan.

But again, the GOAT debate is an argument that each individual looks at in a different way. Hence, we can’t really criticize Miller for selecting the two-way star as his GOAT.

Who will the Hornets draft?

The Hornets have five picks for the 2023 Draft – #2, #27, #34, #39, and #41. As revealed by many reports, the franchise is not expected to utilize all of its picks. While several trade deals have been finalized over the past few days, the Hornets weren’t a part of any of them. Merely a day left for the draft, we can expect them to use their second-round picks as a trade offer.

As for their selection with their #2 overall pick – after Scoot and Brandon met His Airness and the rest of the franchise members, reports have indicated that the latter could be the favorable selection. Take a look at the tweet by Evan Sidery below.

Selecting Miller makes a lot of sense. Playing Small Forward, Miller will add size to the starting lineup and also be a good fit alongside LaMelo Ball. Further, he’d add some defense to a team that direly needs some, thus potentially adding to their win total as well. However, whether or not he is above Scoot Henderson as a prospect is yet to be seen.
