Greg Anthony Hints at Draymond Green for Jordan Poole’s Decline in Playoffs – “Didn’t Take a Leap Because of Something Traumatic!”
Probably the biggest story of the 2022 NBA off-season has people talking about it deep into the 2023 playoffs. The leaked video of Draymond Green punching his teammate Jordan Poole shocked the NBA world. Former NBA player Greg Anthony believes it to be the reason for Poole’s decline this postseason.
Jordan Poole had himself a breakout season in 2021-22 when he took a huge leap in offensive production and efficiency. His performance played a key role in the Golden State Warriors winning their fourth title in eight years. It also earned Poole a contract extension from the team in the off-season.
However, the contract extension would be hampered by an incident in the Warriors’ training camp. In a video leaked by TMZ, Draymond and Jordan were seen having an altercation resulting in a punch being thrown by the Green. Following the incident, Draymond was suspended by the organization.
Greg Anthony hints that Draymond Green might be the reason behind Jordan Poole’s poor performance
Former basketball player and sports broadcaster – Greg Anthony took a subtle jab at Draymond (no pun intended) while referencing the incident in the off-season, having a direct co-relation to Poole’s performance this season. Here is what he said:
“Curious, anyone think that he didn’t take a leap this year because of something traumatic occurring before the season started?”
Greg was responding to the tweet sent out by ESPN while making the above comments.

Jordan Poole signed a 4-year $140,000,000 extension with the Golden State Warriors this off-season owing to his stellar performance in the previous season. The franchise took a huge bet on the Michigan player completing three years in the NBA and showing signs of being the next star for them.
Poole’s stats in the regular season showed that the Warriors’ bet might have paid off. He was averaging a career-high in points, assists, and steals. However, to the dismay of the Warrior’s organization and the fans, Jordan’s performance in the playoffs has been terrible. He has been unable to provide any spark off the bench and has gotten into a habit of making bad decisions while turning the ball over.
The Warriors will need Jordan Poole to win the series against the Lakers
The Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers are competing for a spot in the Western Conference Finals. Currently, the series stands at 2-1, with the Lakers ahead after winning Game 3. Stephen Curry and Klay Thomspon are leading the offense and are desperately looking for their third player to step up.
Jordan is scoring 10.7 PPG while shooting 35.3% from the three-point line. His numbers have declined from the previous season, leaving Curry to do a lot more. The Warriors are facing a must-win situation on Monday night, as a loss in Game 4 will put the team in a 3-1 hole. Bob Myers has some important off-season decisions to make, and if Poole does not show signs of improvement, his job can get a lot harder.
