An 11x All-Star and 11x All-NBA Team Member, Chuck edged Michael Jordan and won the NBA MVP honors in 1993. Despite making it to the Finals in 1993, Barkley and his Suns were no match for His Airness and the Bulls.
After his retirement in 2000, Chuck almost signed with NBC before going to TNT. He’s been an on-air analyst ever since and is excellent at his job. A few days ago, he sat down with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. During the interview, Chuck revealed one of his personal goals he’s been trying to keep going for the past 13 years.
Charles Barkley tries to donate $1 Million to charity every year
Having earned $40.3 Million during his NBA career, Charles Barkley currently boasts a net worth of around $50 Million. He makes roughly $20 Million each year from his TNT salary and endorsements.
Talking to Taylor Rooks, Chuck shared how when he goes home, he reflects back and thinks about all he’s been able to accomplish. He shared how his old high school always has the best jerseys because of him, and how he takes care of them. Barkley said,
“One of my goals has been, and I’ve done for the last thirteen years, my goal has been to give a Million Dollars away a year to charity.”
Barkley then went on the share how it started. It started with his high school, his college, another school in Alabama, Wounded Warriors, and the HBCUs in Georgia and Alabama.
That’s an incredible commitment from Chuck, and it’s great to see a legend make an active effort toward charitable causes.
Chuck has lost almost $30 Million in gambling
Just like many other professional athletes, Charles Barkley also had a gambling problem. His ex-best friend, Michael Jordan is a very well-known gambler as well. Once Charles sat down and admitted to having lost $2.5 Million in a span of mere two hours.
Apart from that, he recalled episodes of going to Vegas and losing $1 Million at least 10 to 20 times.

Adding up all the known encounters, the tally comes out well over $20 Million, almost touching the $30 Million mark. And remember, these are the encounters we know about. The actual number could be much higher.
