"I Did Not Want To Work With My Wife": Dwyane Wade, Launching 'Proudly' With Gabrielle Union, Admitted His Reluctance To Team Up With Her

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been married for close to a decade now. The two tied the knot in 2014, and now, nine years later, they’re prepared to embark on their first business venture together. Launching their new company, “Proudly”, both D-Wade and Union have been doing a lot of press to promote it. This, as expected, includes a lot of interviews. On one such occasion at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival, Wade blatantly admitted he did not want to work with his wife in any capacity.

Proudly, their new company is a testament to their role as parents. A sustainable baby care brand Proudly aims to provide specially formulated products that help with the unique skin care needs of children. They have a variety of different options, including shampoos, conditioners, and body lotions. A brand that is sure to be successful. And, one that was probably inspired by their daughter, Kaavia.

Dwayne Wade reveals he did not want to work with Gabrielle Union on their new company, Proudly

Recently, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union made an appearance at Fast Company’s 9th annual Innovation Festival. While there, the two were interviewed about their new company. During the interview, D-Wade was posed with a difficult question, the response to which may have earned the ire of his wife.

The 2023 Hall of Famer was asked what made the two want to partner up on this project. But, to everyone’s surprise, Wade revealed that he was initially not interested in working with Union whatsoever. It was likely just a light-hearted joke, but one that Wade chose to further elaborate on.

He revealed that he did not want to work with his wife in any capacity. Additionally, he went on to reveal how watchful Union is and how she constantly follows up on the smallest things, including emails. As such, he realized that they both have different processes when it comes to business, increasing his aversion to the idea of working with her.

“I didn’t want to be. The need. It’s about the need. I did not want to work with my wife in this capacity. Listen, she be on me, “Did you look at this email? Did you return this email?”. You know what I mean? We’ve got different processes.”

Gabrielle was of course a bit shocked upon first hearing the response, but took it in good jest. She revealed that she is all about efficiency and as such likes to do things properly. A fair retort to an answer that many partners would probably despise. Hopefully, D-Wade didn’t find himself in the “dog house” when he got back home.

D-Wade opened up about the details of his marriage to Gabrielle Union on Club Shay Shay

It has been nine years since Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union got married. However, the details of their relationship aren’t available to too many. This changed though, when D-Wade spoke to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. On the show, he shared some interesting information about his marriage.

As he revealed, this marriage was the second one for both him and Gabrielle. So, they both decided to sign a prenuptial agreement. The reason for this was their mutual understanding that they would both be in it for each other, rather than worry about the other person’s wealth.

For the most part, it seems that this agreement has worked out well for them. They’re now just months away from completing 10 years. And, while they have had their fair share of problems like most couples, their bond continues to remain strong.
