“I hung out with my sisters all the time”: How Dennis Rodman’s Sisters Influenced Him to Wear a $10,000 Wedding Dress 

Dennis Rodman is the most eclectic character to emerge from the NBA. From vibrant hair color to wedding dresses, Dennis wore it all. The reason behind his eccentricity is his upbringing.

For the uninitiated, Dennis Rodman grew up without a father. And thus, he was reliant on his sisters to raise him. And while they did a terrific job, he also obtained a little bit of their personality.

Like most men in the late 20th century, he wasn’t safeguarded by traditional values. Instead, he was a “guinea pig” for his sisters. And by that, he means they experimented on him, with dresses.

Dennis Rodman was made to wear dresses

Yes, if you ask Dennis he will say the same. Rodman in an interview with GQ had this to say.  “I didn’t have no brothers, no father. I hung out with my sisters all the time, and they (were) was just trying to make me dress up. So I was like the guinea pig of the family,”.

Without a male influence in his life, he never shied away from the feminine side of things. It became his comfort zone. And that is why he was always okay with drag queens, makeup, and hair color.

As he got older, he traded dresses for the NBA uniform and he got good at the sport. And since he didn’t mind getting into dresses, he often slipped into one to create chaos for news networks.

How his sister’s influence eased him into wearing a $10,000 wedding dress

Rodman had this to say when asked about it, “We all had fun at the time, but that didn’t inspire me when I got older. I guess it kind of made me have a sense of awareness of, like, ‘Man, I used to dress like this as a kid.’ Wearing a dress made me feel good. You know?”

And that could have been a huge reason why he decided to put on a $10,000 wedding dress to promote his memoir. Not only was he comfortable wearing it and it would attract the right kind of attention, but it was also a very subliminal way of showing his childhood.

Rodman might have outsmarted us on that one. What do you think?
