"I think it was a good showing for whoever's watching": DeMarcus Cousins makes recruiting pitch to keep Rockets star James Harden

The Rockets cantered to a 125-104 win over the Bulls in preseason. DeMarcus Cousins saw this as an opportunity to send a message to James Harden.

John Wall had a crisp 13 point, 9 assist performance in only 19 minutes of game time. Bruno Caboclo top scored for the team with 17 points in 26 minutes. Boogie himself was feeling himself with 14 points in 15 minutes.

While the Chicago Bulls will certainly not be favorites for the 2021 NBA title, the Rockets have to look at this game as a positive. If the few minutes Wall and Cousins shared the court for were any indication, the duo could be devastating next season.

If only James Harden would return at full strength, they would have a chance to perhaps string together another playoff run.

Many of DeMarcus Cousins’ statements after the game seemed like shots taken at James Harden. These also seemed to be the recruiting pitches imploring the 3-time scoring champion to stay on in Houston.

“It’s a fun offense to be a part of. Everybody gets to touch the ball. Everybody’s involved. If you were watching the game, you could see the energy. It was a good vibe.”

“Obviously we are missing some pieces… valuable pieces at that. I think it was a good showing, whoever’s watching, whoever’s interested. It shows that it’s still a really good team here, regardless of the circumstances floating around the team right now.”

“We’re not rolling over because a few pieces are missing. Hopefully those pieces join us & we continue to improve as a team.”
