‘I’d pick us 5 in a heartbeat’: Michael Jordan picks his unbeatable team, snubs Lakers’ LeBron James
Michael Jordan’s picks to join him on his unbeatable team include Scottie Pippen, Magic Johnson, and more.(Note: The Interview is from last year).
Michael Jordan has been in the news quite frequently in the past month and a half. This is mainly because of LeBron James winning his 4th title, sparking debates around whether James has dethroned Jordan as the GOAT.
With both Jordan and LeBron fans at each other’s necks, this debate will most probably never reach a unanimously agreed upon conclusion.
Michael Jordan is perhaps the greatest NBA player of all time, so it would be worth while listening in on what he believes to be the greatest 5 man squad that could be assembled.
Jordan makes his picks for his unbeatable 5 man squad; snubs LeBron James
Back in 2013, he was asked about his unbeatable starting 5, to which he responded, “ In a pickup game who would I pick? Scottie Pippen, for sure, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Hakeem Olajuwon. I got no chance of losing. None at all.”
In an interview last year, he double downed on his choices from 6 years ago:
“I’d keep them in a heart beat. I’m going into trenches. I played against and with all these guys. I’m going to who I know; every single night the responsibility to go out there and represent greatness every night.”
MJ snubbed LeBron James from his ‘unbeatable 5’, but that was largely because the Bulls legend picked players that he played with or against. Jordan is a firm believer that players from different eras shouldn’t be compared, and hence while picking his unbeatable 5 too, MJ stuck to just his era.
Would this truly be the most unbeatable team of all time?
It would all depend on what the rules are. However, since it was mentioned this is a pickup game, these 5 would indeed be very hard to beat.
The only downside for them would be their floor spacing. With Jordan being their best shooter, they’re not going to swish too many shots from beyond the arc.
