“If New York Knicks Get Victor Wembanyama, It’s Over!”: Kevin Garnett Wishes For $6.1 Billion Franchise to Tank 2022-23 Season
Although the hype has toned down a bit since the 2022-23 season got into its groove, Victor Wembanyama has got the NBA way more excited than it was at the time Zion Williamson or even LeBron James was coming in.
The #1 prospect of the 2023 Draft is the biggest prodigy in basketball since James. Some experts and even some of former James’ teammates have openly put forward their opinion of the 7ft 2’ versatile center being an even bigger prospect.
Now one of LeBron’s biggest rivals is all hyped about thinking how great the New York Knicks would become if they get the 18-year-old next season.
Kevin Garnett is excited for the Knicks to land Victor Wembanyama
Although Kevin Garnett never played for the now $6.1 Billion worth franchise, he did play in Brooklyn and must know how it feels to represent New York and play at MSG.
KG played against the Knicks when the last time they were one of the best teams in the league when he first came in 1997. Its tremendous downfall in the years to come as The Big Ticket hung around in the league for 21 years has been abysmal.
So, he can’t help but think what if the Knicks get Victor Wembanyama, they will be rekindled and rejuvenated. The 15x All-Star talked about it with his 2008 championship partner Paul Pierce on his show KG Certified and stated that it’ll be “Over” for the league.
What chances do the Knicks have to land Wembanyama?
The Knicks currently stand at 11th in the East with an 11-13 record. They must not be thinking of doing anything apart from going for a Playoff spot having acquired Jalen Brunson this past season on a 100 Million-plus contract.
But this team, even with everyone in top shape and form, is not going anywhere past the second round and so it won’t be a bad option for them to seek the French sensation next season.
They would surely become one of the best teams in the league without any additions or subtractions if they do get Wemby next season. Let’s hope they do. Knicks fans deserve some happiness.
