‘Is Anthony Davis playing tonight’ has been trending on social media, ever since it was reported that the Lakers might completely rest him for tonight’s game vs Kings.

The Lakers have secured the 1st seed in the Western conference, but would be the last team to know about their playoff opponents, as the 8th seed in the West is going to be determined by a play-in tournament.

Thus, the Lakers will have less time to assess their possible opponents, something that can be a little challenging, come round 1 of the playoffs.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been a little erratic in the bubble with their offensive play, but would need to be at their absolute best during the playoffs, as they could be facing a resurgent Suns/Blazers outfit.

One last game before the playoffs and Frank Vogel would want to try out everything he desires before the post-season begins

According to the recently released Lakers’ injury report, Anthony Davis will not be featuring in tonight’s game, as he needs to feel completely rested before the playoffs.

Davis was impressive in his last playoff performance, but this time the stakes are higher and Lakers could be going all the way. Hence, not only will he have to keep his form sky high, he’ll also need to manage is body and fitness well.

LeBron James will be playing only the first half of tonight’s encounter between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings. Frank Vogel, head coach of the Lakers has confirmed that 3 other first-team players will also sit-out.

The players who will be rested for tonight’s game are  Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso and Kyle Kuzma. This would mean that the Lakers’ bench will be rotated in and the reserves will get a chance to take the court.

Dave McMenamin, the NBA reporter for ESPN took to Twitter to announce this news. A lot of Lakers would be a little surprised with the complete rest for AD, who would have maybe requested to play a little in order to keep his momentum going.

But, Vogel has made a wise decision to rest his primaries before the playoffs. This will also give his bench a chance to get into the grove before the pressure of the playoffs and NBA championship.

LeBron to start with McGee &Green

Frank Vogel also stated that LeBron will start the game with Dany Green and Markieff Morris. JaVale McGee will also be a part of this game. The new line up for the Lakers against the Kings will be LeBron, McGee, Green, Morris and Tucker.

Vogel also stated that LeBron will be taken out after the first half. It will be interesting to see who replaces him.
