Is Joel Embiid Playing Tonight vs Celtics? Sixers Release a Concerning Injury Report For the 2023 MVP

The Philadelphia 76ers got a huge reason to celebrate last night. Joel Embiid was named the 2023 NBA MVP.

After finishing 2nd in the MVP race for two straight years, Embiid finally got his recognition. He overtook Nikola Jokic and won the Michael Jordan MVP honors. This adds to the Sixers’ celebration, who were already ecstatic about James Harden‘s 45-point performance to beat the Celtics in Game 1.

Heading into Game 2, the Celtics would be looking to avenge their loss and level the series at the TD Garden. This leaves fans begging with the question: Is Joel Embiid playing tonight?

Joel Embiid is listed as DOUBTFUL for Game 2

The Sixers head back to the TD Garden for Game 2 tonight. It would be an uphill battle, but the team is prepared for it. However, nothing new has been issued for their MVP’s status. According to the latest injury report, Joel Embiid has been listed as doubtful.

While congratulating him for the MVP honors, Ernie Johnson tried to get insider information and flat-out asked him for his Game 2 status. Embiid had a coy laugh and told him that ‘We shall see.’ The fans hope that Embiid returns for Game 2, but I feel like the Sixers will be more cautious about the MVP and maybe rest him for Game 2.

We’ll have to wait for 8 PM ET to know the status for sure.
