“Kawhi Leonard was their leader on court and everything trickled down”: Kendrick Perkins heaps praise on Clippers star after exemplary performances vs Mavericks in Games 6 & 7
Kawhi Leonard earns rave reviews from ESPN pundits on The Jump after leading the LA Clippers past Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Klaw has been one of the greatest postseason performers in NBA history, period. This man put together two of the greatest playoff runs by a forward in 2017 and then in 2019. The latter run saw him get a championship to the only Canadian team in the NBA today.
Leonard has proved beyond doubt that he’s a historically great player. And if people had any sort of doubts on him following last season’s meltdown, they got a great answer this time.
Kawhi was imperious against the best NBA team in Texas. He came up in big in both elimination games to take Steve Ballmer’s side past the ignominy of a first-round exit.
Kendrick Perkins gives rave reviews to Kawhi Leonard for his first round vs Mavericks
Kawhi’s play in the Clippers’ wins has earned him praise from all quarters, including Kendrick Perkins. The 2008 NBA champion joined Richard Jefferson and Zach Lowe on The Jump today, where they discussed the future of this year’s playoffs.
The first topic of discussion on the day was just how well the Clippers look set for the upcoming playoffs, and what they gained in their playoff run thus far. Richard Jefferson reposed faith in his former head coach Ty Lue. Perkins, meanwhile, commended the Klaw:
“Well the best thing that happened for the Clippers for me is that they chose the Mavericks in the last 2 games of the regular season. And the Dallas Mavericks gave them everything and more that they possibly could. They had to face adversity. But guess what?”
“Kawhi Leonard came big in Game 6 and in Game 7. He’s like ‘I hear you talking about Luka, I hear you talking about Trae Young. But guess what, I’m a two-time DPOY, I’m a two-time Finals MVP.'”
“And so what Kawhi did? He dominated in great fashion averaging 30 points on 60% from the field and 43% from 3. So I’ve got faith in Kawhi, cuz he’s been the leader on the court through his play, and he’s helping everyone else perform.”
