“Kemba Walker was heartbroken when Brad Stevens traded him”: Former Celtics star took his trade to OKC Thunder for Al Horford personally
Sources reveal how Kemba Walker reacted after Celtics’ POBO Brad Stevens traded him to the OKC Thunder for Al Horford.
Kemba Walker’s time with the Boston Celtics was filled with high anticipation, but also a whole lot of misfortune. The star was expected to be the third star to the likes of the budding Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However, as fans know, that just didn’t happen.
Walker had to spend most of his time sidelined due to his constant knee injuries. And even when he came back, his production just wasn’t the same. Teams often even felt comfortable just letting the player go while defending him. Simply put, he was starting to become a liability to the team.
Perhaps it was only a matter of time before the Celtics chose to off-load the star. But, the NBA isn’t just a business. There are people and human emotions involved as well. And a recent report reveals how Walker reacted to the whole trade when it happened.

Sources reveal Kemba Walker was devastated when he first heard he was going to be traded
Kemba Walker received a lot of scrutiny from fans and analysts alike when he was in Boston. And, while a lot of it was justified, facing such criticism every day could not have been easy.
Still, the star told multiple times that he loved the city, and harbors some deep connection with his now-former teammates. And when you consider that, leaving it all for a new city all of a sudden can’t be easy on anyone.
The Athletic’s Jared Weiss recently wrote a piece on the topic. Here is a little excerpt of what sources told him about the situation.
“According to sources, Walker was “heartbroken” over the trade, particularly because of his strong relationships with his teammates.”

We feel for Kemba here. At the end of the day, he tried his best, but it just didn’t work. But, given that he has time to rest from his injuries, there is hope, that there is a far brighter future ahead for the star.
