"Kevin Garnett has crossed that line plenty of times": Richard Jefferson defends Kyrie Irving after Celtics legend accuses the Nets star of stomping on 'Lucky'

Kevin Garnett might only have sent a lightly-worded warning to Kyrie Irving, but Richard Jefferson is having none of it.

Kyrie Irving was the center of a couple of Celtics-related incidents during the weekend. He appeared to intentionally stamp on the logo disrespectfully after the Nets took Game 3.

Barely seconds after that happened, a Celtics fan threw a water bottle at him as he walked off the court. The fan has since been apprehended, charged and banned indefinitely from TD Garden.

Kevin Garnett, however, wanted to draw more attention to Kyrie’s action. And Richard Jefferson is not having it. This is what RJ posted in response to the Big Ticket on Twitter this morning:

“Kevin Garnett has done FAR more disrespectful things on the court than what Kyrie did. I don’t want to hear that noise. He’s crossed that line plenty of times…… plenty of times.”

RJ played against Garnett for several years in the league. And it’s not like these are some made-up accusations. KG definitely talked a volume of trash, and he also went over the line with several players in his attempts to get in their heads.

RJ’s tweet has divided public opinion regarding Kyrie’s actions on the day. People maintain that it was an intentional act of disrespect towards the Celtics organization.

But most of the responses pointed out instances from Garnett’s past where he seems to be the bad guy. Now it’s a different matter whether all of them are substantiated claims, but they’re out there.

We suggest you err on the side of not paying attention to this hoopla in the future. The Celtics will likely be knocked out in this round, and quite possibly tonight could be that night.
