"Kyle Lowry to the Lakers?": LeBron James could team up with 2019 NBA champion as Rob Pelinka looks to replace Dennis Schroder

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are rumored to make a push and acquire Raptors’ star guard Kyle Lowry in the upcoming offseason

The 2021 Los Angeles Lakers would go down in the history books, but not for the reasons they’d want. After their first-round playoff exit, they became the 5th ever Champions to get knocked out in the first round the following season. The Lakers, after losing Anthony Davis to injury, fell short 4-2 against Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns.

However, the additional time off would be useful for the Lakers. They were dealing with a ton of injuries all throughout the season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis would look to recover fully and come back with a vengeance next season. It also means that the Lakers’ front office has added time to look for changes they can make to the roster.

The Lakers are rumored to go all-in in their pursuit of Kyle Lowry

It seems like the Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors bond is hanging by a thin thread. After the abysmal performance this season, Lowry was all prepared to be traded at the trade deadline. However, the Raptors could not finalize a profitable deal in time, and Kyle finished his season with the Raptors.

The narrative is rumored to change in the offseason. According to The Athletic’s Eric Koreen, the teams that pursued Lowry at the trade deadline are expected to do so again. The teams pursuing Kyle Lowry back then were the Heat, the Lakers, and the Sixers.

“Expect all three teams that kicked the tires on Lowry at the trade deadline to explore his availability once more. The Heat have the clearest path to acquiring him, while the Lakers’ contracts that they could move in a sign-and-trade are not overly desirable, although there is likely a deal to work out if both Lowry and the Lakers are deeply interested.”

The Lakers do need to find a replacement for Dennis Schroder. Schroder, who was acquired the past offseason, was not a good fit for them. It would be interesting to see which team ends up securing the Lowry trade.
