Lakers Loyal Shaquille O'Neal Supports Fans Hounding Ja Morant in Public After Grizzlies' Humbling Loss

The Los Angeles Lakers made short work of the Memphis Grizzlies in their first-round match-up. A great win for LeBron James and Co., but humiliating for Ja Morant. It certainly is a loss he would like to forget, but the fans in LA won’t let him, as they hound him in public. And, based on his Instagram story, they have the support of Laker legend, Shaquille O’Neal.

Earlier in the year, Ja and his daughter Kaari went viral. The 2019 Rookie of the Year got his daughter to sing the lyrics of the song Fresh Prince of Utah by YoungBoy Never Broke Again. In particular, the lyric “It’s a parade inside my city yeah!”.

One would assume Morant had his daughter sing those words as a hint to his championship aspirations and the confidence he has in his Grizzlies team. But, following a 40-point blowout loss to the Lakers, those words have come back to haunt him. Fans have been hounding him with those words. Reminding him of his and his team’s failure. A message that Big Diesel approves of.

Heading into their first-round match-up, the Grizzlies were confident they could overcome the Lakers. After all, they were the second seed, while the Lakers barely made it through the Play-In. As far as they were concerned this should have been a piece of cake.

Unfortunately for them, a resilient LeBron James along with the rest of the squad turned up. The Purple and Gold won the series 4-2 ending it with a massive 125-85 win in LA. Sending the Grizzlies back home to Tenessee. But, the humiliation doesn’t end there.

Grizzlies star player Ja Morant decided to stick around in sunny California for a while. And, this has not ended well. He has been hounded night after night by fans, trolling him for his overconfidence. In fact, one fan even took a video of Ja, all while screaming “It’s a parade in my city yeah!”, mocking him. Well, while some may look at it as poor taste, one man who certainly supports it is Shaquille O’Neal. The Laker legend who won three NBA Championships for them shared the video on Instagram.

There can be no denying that Morant deserves to be trolled just a little bit. But, this isn’t the only quote he is getting shade for. Fans are now throwing it back to his “I’m fine in the West” comments.

Morant is now being trolled for his “fine in the West” comments

The 2022-2023 NBA season hasn’t been Ja Morant’s year. The Shaquille O’Neal-approved messages aside, things won’t be looking up for him for quite a while. Especially with fans now reminding him of his memorable “I’m fine in the West” quote. One that he still stands by despite the Grizzlies’ early first-round exit.

Safe to say, he’s going to have to live with this ridicule for some time. At least, until the start of next season, where he can hopefully redeem himself.
