“LeBron James and Lakers are where we found ourselves in the 73-9 season”: Warriors’ Steve Kerr praises reigning NBA champions for their gameplay and mentality this year
Steve Kerr spoke to the press ahead of the first faceoff of the season between LeBron James and his Lakers and Steph Curry and his Warriors.
Kerr knows what phase James and his Lakers team is going through. After all, the Warriors were the most successful franchise of the previous decade. Led by Steph Curry and his MVP-like feats, the Warriors made it to 5 straight NBA Finals, winning 3 of them.
It was a glorious period of basketball not only for the Warriors, but for everyone. They raised the bar for beautiful basketball with their unselfishness, ball movement and expert shooting. This was probably the only time in history when 3 high-volume shooters with percentages above 40% were on the same team.
Steve Kerr praises LeBron James and Lakers for their performances this season
Ahead of their MLK day fixture, Steve Kerr heaped the praise on LeBron James and the Lakers:
“They have the confine that comes with winning a championship and they don’t have the fatigue that comes with winning multiple championships. This is really a sweet spot. It’s where we found ourselves the year we won 73.”
“You come back and it’s almost like a continuation of your championship season. You’re on top of the world. Everybody’s happy. You add some layers to what you already did. [And you have] deeper confidence in what you’re doing.”

The Lakers look even better this season than they did last year. They’ve acquired some great bench players – the top 2 finishers of the Sixth Man of the Year award in Montrezl Harrrell and Dennis Schroder. They replaced Danny Green with Wesley Matthews and Dwight Howard with Marc Gasol.
Overall, they look way more talented than they did last year. That’s why they’re still the Vegas favorites to win it all this season.
