LeBron James led the Lakers to his first first-round exit of his 18-year career. NBA Twitter is beside itself with glee, roasting them after their exit.

The LA Lakers were strongly tipped to win their first-round series against the Phoenix Suns this year. In fact, they were -110 betting favorites going into the series. However, a string of unforeseen mishaps and poor play by the Lakers meant that they finished their title defense pretty poorly.
Losing Anthony Davis to groin injury proved to be the major difference-maker for the Lakers this time around. The big man demonstrated that he’s the bread and butter for the Lakers on both ends of the floor. He was ominously conspicuous by his absence in Games 5 and 6.
LeBron clearly looks way off 100% judging from how he’s played in this series. This will refuel speculations about whether the Lakers star can ever get back into championship mode. It seems that the Lakers have the werewithal to come back next season.
However, this is the Suns’ and Devin Booker’s moment. We should let NBA Twitter and the whole of basketball fandom mock the defending champions with the shortest title defense in league history. It lasted all of 8 months for the Lakers.
NBA fans roast LeBron James and Lakers for losing first-round series vs Suns
As expected, the barrage of memes, criticism and sage advice to overcome NBA Twitter could legitimately break the Internet. Before that happens, however, we bring to you some of the best worthy pieces of content from the platform.
Never put LeBron James name in the conversation with Michael Jordan again

Am gonna continue to what-if that trade for Kyle Lowry with this Lakers team, but regardless Phoenix didn’t just get this series by default – they went out and took it. Chris Paul has been a warrior, Monty Williams has been smart & steady and Devin Booker is just a flat-out stud.

LeBron is now 2-1 in playoff series against his Banana Boat brethren. Never faced D-Wade; they were busy winning two titles together. Beat Melo twice. But now Chris Paul gets to talk some smack when they all share that next bottle of wine: Handed out LeBron’s first 1st round loss

The team that have the won the previous 9 NBA titles have all been eliminated.
Of the remaining playoff teams, the most recent one to have won the title is … the Mavericks in 2011.
