"LeBron James handled Kyrie Irving for 3 years, Kevin Durant couldn't do it for 3 weeks": Colin Cowherd explains why Lakers star is a better leader than anyone on the Nets

Colin Cowherd tore into Kyrie Irving while praising LeBron James on The Herd recently. He said Irving could only be handled by James.

We all know how much of a nutcase Kyrie Irving can be. He’s proved this repeatedly over the past 4 years or so. This all began when he went on the Road Trippin podcast to talk about a flat earth. Since then, he’s talked about the Illuminati, conspiracy theories and has been traded twice.

Irving was also a locker room concern during his two seasons with the Boston Celtics. Many thought he wasn’t mature enough to be the leader of a young, talented group, and they were proved right. He was terrible in the one playoff run that Kyrie was involved in for the Cs.

Now questions are arising about how well Irving will gel with James Harden and Kevin Durant. History suggests that he might not take kindly to becoming a third option on offense for the first time in his career.

Colin Cowherd praises LeBron James while dissing Kyrie Irving

The Fox Sports host posted a video of him critiquing KD and Kyrie with the following caption:

James Harden going to the Nets illustrates the difference between LeBron and Kevin Durant: “KD couldn’t make Kyrie work for 3 weeks. LeBron made it work for 3 years.”

Cowherd, as he usually is, was off base once again. Irving was a young player with Bron, and he only developed these tendencies later on his career. He was also the most reliable teammate James had until he got AD in 2019. Thus, it doesn’t make sense to critique KD for not being able to ‘rein in’ Kyrie.
