Magic Johnson says that Kevin Durant still has to wait a year to be crowned best player in the world over LeBron James.

Kevin Durant and LeBron James have both been eliminated from the 2021 NBA playoffs because of bad luck. The Lakers were up 2-1 with a Game 4 at home when Anthony Davis got injured. KD, meanwhile, battled for 7 games with Harden and Kyrie injured.
The Lakers star couldn’t make much out of the bad hand he’d been dealt. He was already dealing with 2 relapses on his recovery timeline from a high ankle sprain. He was then asked to dominate like he did in his prime.

The result wasn’t pretty for the Lakers as they lost their last 3 games of the series by 15+ points. It got to a point where Jae Crowder was taunting King James and his Lakers, doing his salsa dance ad on the court.
However, LeBron will be brooding his time. This man has come back stronger from every single setback he’s faced in his career. It would be foolhardy to count him already, and Magic Johnson knows this very well.
Magic Johnson says LeBron James will be the world’s best player next year
Mike Greenberg invited the Lakers legend and 3-time Finals MVP to Get Up! on ESPN Monday. Magic voiced his opinion on a bunch of current NBA matters. Obviously, the Lakers’ prospects for next season were among the major topics of discussion.
The leader of the Showtime Lakers is still high on the defending champions’ chances in 2022. In his mind, LeBron James still has one year left before he gives up his crown as the world’s best player:

“I think LeBron’s got one more year to be the man, and then it’s Kevin Durant’s league right after that. I think Kevin Durant is the best scorer on this planet in the world.”
“I think that, yes, now they’re running neck and neck. LeBron knows he’s got to come back and have a great year and his Lakers got to have a great year.”
“But let’s see what happens next season. LeBron… he can just do everything. He’s not going to give him his crown too easy of being the best player in the world.”
