LeBron James has got everything he’s ever wanted out of life. He settled down with his high school sweetheart, has 3 beautiful children with her, is one of the greatest athletes in North American sports history, and has achieved billionaire status all before turning 30 years old. However, there is one thing he simply could not maintain.

It’s a known fact that ‘The King’ has struggled to keep his hair intact. In high school, James very easily grew out an afro to emulate his favorite player at the time, Kobe Bryant. Even in the league, his early Cleveland Cavalier days saw him sporting a solid head of hair.
He didn’t need to wear a headband but during his first Cavs stint and his days with the Miami Heat, that aesthetic became a part of him. However, during the latter of those two times of his life, wearing a headband benefitted him much more than the former.
Dwyane Wade calls out LeBron James for being jealous
Dwyane Wade and LeBron James came into the NBA together during the 2003 NBA Draft, both of whom who were selected in the top 5. They would team up after 7 years in the league after James decided to join the Miami Heat in the summer of 2010.
While they were already incredibly close, this just made them closer as they would win 2 championships together over the course of 4 years. Their brother-like on-court relationship would get reignited after Wade made his way to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the start of the 2017-18 season.
It was during this season that they would do interviews together, where in one of them Wade hilariously let it be known that James was jealous of the hair that he had. The 4x champion, in return, would go on to express his bewilderment at Dwyane having that much hair at age 35.
LeBron James doesn’t wear a headband anymore
Lebron James, who wore a headband all throughout his time with the Miami Heat to hide his receding hairline, stopped doing so entirely after his 2014 return to the Cavaliers. He would wear it occasionally but by the time he had won his 3rd ring, his headband era was long gone.
Nearly a decade later, in 2023 as a 38 year old, James confidently struts across NBA hardwood with a less than impressive hairline. And quite frankly speaking, it couldn’t matter in the slightest given that he just has so much more going on in life for him.
