LeBron James Passes Magic Johnson for 6th on ‘Exclusive List’ Before Eclipsing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for 1st
LeBron James is chasing multiple records in his 20th year. Tonight he passed Magic Johnson to sit at no.6 on the all-time assist leaderboard. A player never dubbed as pass-first has now overtaken a former assist record holder and a guy known for his passing.
LeBron’s legacy needs more padding. To pass someone who started the flashy “Showtime basketball” era is simply impressive. There are no more accolades that LeBron James could add to polish his resume, apart from this. We already know he will reach no.1 on the all-time scoring leaderboard but to be 6th on the assist record? Incredible.
Tonight was a vintage LeBron performance. The point forward was on the charge tonight. And with flashy passing, he was showing that even in year 20, there is no stopping him.

As you can see the mountain is not that hard to climb. But his buddy Chris Paul might be a little harder to beat. It will take time, but it is almost certain that it will happen.

Before reaching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron sought out Magic Johnson’s assist record
Before eclipsing Kareem, LeBron decided to take on Magic Johnson, another Laker great. LeBron in a quest to build his legacy in the purple and gold is pushing past the greats and ascending to heights not seen before.
We are unlikely to ever see another scoring and pass-making player in his mold. And with his longevity? Impossible, surely.
But as the days wind down and LeBron James continues to put in miracle-like performances, and continue this unprecedented scoring streak in his 20th year.
When all is said and done, we will look back with fondness and for now, we will give an ode to this legend before we make a monument in his honor.
