“Luka Doncic is the most skilled player in the NBA”: Celtics legend Paul Pierce sings Mavericks MVP’s praises, snubs stars like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant

Paul Pierce has high praise for Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic as he claims the 21-year-old is the most skilled player in the NBA.

Coming into this 2020-21 NBA season, Luka Doncic was the front-runner to claim his first ever MVP trophy. However, due to the Dallas Mavericks’ regular-season woes, the MVP chatter has died down quite substantially.

He’s currently hovering outside of the top 5 on the MVP leaderboard after leading the Mavericks to a below .500 record of 13-15.  Though the Mavs have yet to find their groove and string together multiple wins at a time, Luka Doncic has been balling out.

He’s averaging career highs in points, field goal percentage and three-point percentage. The 21-year-old is only in his 3rd season in the NBA and he’s already got a bag as deep as some of the best superstars in the league.

Paul Pierce says that Luka Doncic is the most skilled player in the NBA

Luka definitely finds some of the most creative ways to put the ball in the basket. Whether it’s through dribble penetration, floaters, or his patented step back from beyond the arc, Doncic has a variety of ways he can score on his defender.

The Slovenian national’s game is so potent that it prompted the ‘king of all NBA takes’, Paul Pierce to label Doncic, “the most skilled player in the NBA”.

There is no doubt that in terms of skills, Luka’s up there with the best of the best. The former ROTY has dropped 40+ in two straight games – his 46-point outing against the Pelicans was a career-high.

However, with guys like Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Nikola Jokic in the league, it is difficult to hand over Luka that crown just yet. Even someone like Damian Lillard, who’s a legitimate four-level scorer, is just as skilled as Luka, if not more.
