“Mike Malone Reminded Me That There’s Only One Jamal Murray”: Having Missed 2 Postseasons, Nuggets Star Gets Emotional Following Historic 40-Pt Outing

The Minnesota Timberwolves turned things around in the 3rd quarter of Game 2 of their first-round clash against the Denver Nuggets. However, despite their valiant efforts of coming back from a 21-point lead, Anthony Edwards and co. suffered a 113-122 loss. While Nikola Jokic had a sensational 27-point, 9-rebound, and 9-assist near-triple-double performance, tonight was all about Jamal Murray.

Playing only his 2nd playoff game after missing the past 2 postseasons, the Canadian guard stuffed the stat sheet with 40 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds on an efficient 59.1/60/88.9 shooting split.

“It took a lot to get back to this point”: Jamal Murray

After the contest got over, Murray was seen sharing an emotional moment with head coach Mike Malone.

In the postgame presser, the 26-year-old combo guard disclosed what Malone told him. Further, the 6-foot-4 star spoke about the difficulties he went through due to his injuries over the past few seasons.

“There’s only one Jamal. So he just reminded me of that.

It took a lot to get back to this point. A lot of doubts, a lot of unknowns, a lot of fears. But it was nice to see it through.”

Nikola Jokic says Murray is better than he was in the 2020 Bubble

The 2020 Bubble Playoffs witnessed some incredible performances by Murray.

While many enthusiasts and analysts have been filling up social media with “Bubble Jamal”, the Joker believes that his teammate has been playin much better lately than he did in his last postseason appearance. The defending MVP said:

“I think he’s playing now better than in the bubble. Yes, he scored a lot more points in the bubble, or whatever, but I think his energy is much better. His leadership, his — not focus — just like being into the game, it’s at a much higher level.”

Having recorded the most number of 40-point games in the postseason in franchise’s history, it is pretty evident that Jamal Murray is in-form.
