"Proud moment watching my son play": Ernie Johnson hysterically trolls Lakers' Alex Caruso, calls him his own son in response to fans

TNT analyst Ernie Johnson calls LA Lakers star Alex Caruso his son in a hilarious bit on Inside the NBA after their loss to the Celtics.

The LA Lakers haven’t been too lucky this season. Injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis have often put the franchise in a tough spot. However, despite the lack of their best players, the team has managed to hang onto a respectable 5th seed, with a record of 34-22. And a massive reason behind that is Alex Caruso.

The Bald Eagle’s averages of 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists certainly don’t pop off. But, his overall impact on the game when he plays is palpable, and something the team can’t afford to lose.

Given his recent uptake in performances, the player has been the subject of a lot of praise, and even some light-hearted jokes. And it seems TNT analyst Ernie Johnson has just added a hilarious entry to the latter category.

The Inside Crew hilariously call Alex Caruso Ernie Johnson’s son ahead Lakers vs Celtics

Ernie Johnson is regarded as one of the most heartwarming NBA analysts on television right now, and justifiably so. The 64-year-old is never afraid to laugh at himself, even on national television.

His chemistry with his co-hosts in Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley is impeccable. And more than anything else, he has a few moments of swagger, which can shock the world into laughing along with him. Truly, he is the sweetest analyst on NBA television.

On a recent episode of Inside the NBA, the Inside Crew was discussing the then-upcoming Lakers vs Celtics game. And as soon as the video preview came up on the screen, EJ dropped this line.

“Always a proud moment when a father can watch his son play.”

The Inside guys went on to talk about how much Alex Caruso and Ernie Johnson look alike, with Kenny Smith even saying that NBA fans may actually mistake the two for father and son.

As far as we know, the LA Lakers star has not heard the bit yet. And honestly, we can’t wait for a public reaction from the player.
