Skip and Shannon were on air yesterday to debate what Richard Jefferson meant with his comments on LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Matt Barnes and Richard Jefferson were recently on The Jump to discuss a prospective Nets vs Knicks matchup. The discussion took place in the backdrop of Kevin Durant replying to excited Knicks fans about this playoff series.
Barnes batted for this series to happen just so that Knicks fans could feel relevant once more. Richard Jefferson, however, went a little deeper into the discussion and urged Knicks fans not to take KD lightly:
“I have word there that says NO!! You do not want that. Knicks fans, I know I’ve given you guys a lot of heat and all the heat that I get is completely deserved. But even on the great teams I’ve been on; I had LeBron James on my team and I didn’t want to see Kevin Durant.”
It was all fun and games playing “Can I have a word” with @RJeff24 and @Matt_Barnes22…until we got into the topic of Knicks fans getting into Kevin Durant’s DM’s. Matt says NY fans should talk their talk…just not to KD. Richard says Knicks fans should talk to him instead 😂 pic.twitter.com/88xf2mgM0V

Skip Bayless pounces on this opportunity to debate Kevin Durant vs LeBron James
Both Skip and Shannon took particular care to milk RJ’s quote for all that it was worth yesterday. Both of them chose to intentionally misinterpret the quote as implying that Kevin Durant is better than LeBron James.
Shannon began raging at people who call KD the best player in the world, and he even lost his composure while doing so. Skip, on the other hand, is a master of keeping composure and strawmanning those who disagree with him. Skip basically said:
“Richard Jefferson, a man who played with LeBron and is close to him, just summed it up for you: ‘I had LeBron on my team and I didn’t want to see KD.’ What’s the translation? KD is better than his guy LeBron.”
