"Rodney McGruder might be out of the league soon": Reporter Klay Thompson roasts Pistons wing after Warriors' blowout win on the back of Curry's 28 points

Klay Thompson was in his element while enacting his new role as an NBC Sports reporter. He was merciless in his assessment of Rodney McGruder.

The Warriors were able to stifle the Pistons offense while enacting their own schemes to perfection last night. Steph Curry was at his efficient best, getting buckets galore for the Warriors. The team went 17-of-36 from 3-point territory – good for an impeccable percentage of 47.2%.

Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre shared in some of the scoring load with Steph. Wiggins shot 8-of-17 from the field and 3-of-6 from downtown for 20 points, while Oubre tallied 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field.

The Pistons were so out of the game by the 4th quarter that they played their garbage-time lineup all through the period. Rodney McGruder got 6 minutes in this outing as a result.

Rodney McGruder catches strays from Klay Thompson in Warriors star’s stint as a reporter

In a game that died out as a contest early on, it required some generous interventions from the broadcasters to instil some interest in viewers. Thankfully, Klay was out there providing us with some free on-air entertainment that most of us hadn’t bargained for.

It could be argued that Rodney McGruder made the best of his garbage-time minutes. Save for one turnover, he made all 3 of his shots from the field, staking his claim for a place in the rotation ahead of the likes of Svi Mikhailyuk, who was terrible on the night.

McGruder was part of a small kerfuffle at the end of the game between the Warriors and Pistons. This led to Klay Thompson firing shots at him:

“Oh no this dude might be out of the league soon, he might be mad about that – who knows?”

“This guy is trying to start s**t like he’s a good player or something, like bro, get out of here. You might be……alright, alright, we’re done.”
