The Brody requested a trade from the Rockets in mid-November. He was traded to Washington in exchange for John Wall. The former Thunder guard is now lining up alongside the best lineup of shooters he’s ever played with.
Westbrook’s skillset and the Wizards complement one another very well. Although they got off to a losing start to the season, the Wizards will feel confident in their ability to hang with the best in the East.
Rui Hachimura says Russell Westbrook was one of his favorite players growing up.
Hachimura: “The first thing I noticed, he’s a great leader…He’s almost like a head coach. He always talks to us…He actually changed our energy.”

Bradley Beal and other Wizards praise Russell Wesstbrook
The Brody is always a beloved teammate whoever he plays with. Bradley Beal explains why:
“He [Westbrook] has the resume, mentally and physically, he’s gifted. Just from a professional standpoint our work has been great every day, we haven’t had that I promise you in my nine years being here.”
Russ doesn’t even go easy on a seasoned veteran like Beal, egging him on to be aggressive and to stop passing up shots. Beal welcomes this.
“It’s a natural carryover, it’s like contagious a lot of time. He forces that out of you, and that’s what I love for me, because I don’t have to be the vocal one all the time.”
“I’m telling guys to be aggressive, take that shot. I might yell at you, Russ might yell at you if it’s a bad shot. But at the end of the day, we want the best shot for the team every single time.”
