"Me Over My Uncle, Shaquille O'Neal": LSU Star, Angel Reese, Picks Herself Over Lakers Legend After Calling Him 'Uncle'

Shaquille O’Neal is an alumnus of Louisiana State University and was part of the LSU Tigers basketball team from 1989 to 1992. Angel Reese from LSU Tigers’ women’s team is now gaining much popularity, given her latest NCAA Championship win this year. And because of it, Reese is now gaining comparisons to Shaq. But apparently, she believes she is better than he was already.

Shaq had also made a bold statement on the Big Podcast, calling Reese the best athlete in the history of the school’s athletics program. When it comes from an LSU alumnus with two National Player of the Year titles and a Naismith Hall of Famer, Reese’s potential and quality need to be paid attention to. And it appears that Angel Reese agrees with him completely.

Recently, the LSU star was interviewed by Sports Illustrated. And in the interview, when questioned on who was better, she shockingly chose herself over Shaquille O’Neal.

“Me Over My Uncle, Shaquille O’Neal”: Angel Reese chooses herself over Shaquille O’Neal as an athlete

Sports Illustrated, in one of its latest Instagram videos, pitted some of the best LSU alumni to choose from, for Angel Reese and Olivia Dunne. In the first instance, Reese and Olivia Dunne were asked to choose between Shaq and Leonard Fournette. Both chose Shaq, with Reese adding,

“Shaq is my uncle, duh!”

Next, the LSU athletes were asked to choose between Shaq and Joe Burrow. While Reese again chose Shaq, Olivia Dunne went ahead with Joe Burrow. For quite some time, the LSU Tigers gymnastics star had a huge crush on Joe Burrow, which was often hinted at through her social media activities.

Next, Reese was asked who she would choose between herself and Shaq. She chose herself, saying the following

“I’m going with myself, Shaq loves me though.”

Angel Reese is very confident in her skills, and why shouldn’t she be? After transferring to LSU after two seasons at Maryland, Reese averaged 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 36 games.

Angel helped LSU win its first national championship as well. She helped the team with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in a 102-85 victory over Iowa. Besides this, she also won the Most Outstanding Player award and also set a single-season record of 34 double-doubles.

Despite that, is she better than Shaquille O’Neal already? At the very least, there is still a bit of doubt about that one.

Shaq’s illustrious career with the LSU Tigers

While studying business at Louisiana State University, Shaquille O’Neal was one of the top basketball athletes for the Tigers. He had met the Tigers coach Dale Brown in Europe, while his stepfather was stationed at a military base in Germany.

With the Tigers, O’Neal was a two-time All-American, SEC Player of the Year, and recipient of the Adolph Rupp Trophy in 1991. Following this, O’Neal was drafted to the NBA in 1992 by the Orlando Magic as a first-overall pick.

Shaq was also inducted into the LSU Hall of Fame and has a 900-pound statue of himself in front of the LSU Basketball Practice Facility to this day.
