Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell is one of the best young players in the NBA. At the age of 26, Mitchell has already been selected as an All-Star 4 times in his career. Recently speaking to the Tidal League YouTube channel, Mitchell was asked to compare some of the best players in the NBA. The Cavaliers star was asked was initially asked who of Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic had the “deeper bag.”

Durant, one of the best players in the history of the game, was overlooked by Mitchell. He was then asked the same question about Luka Doncic and OKC Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Mitchell ended up claiming that Shai had the “deeper bag.”
Donovan Mitchell makes a surprising choice when asked to choose between Durant, Doncic and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander
There are not many basketball fans who will agree with Donovan Mitchell’s take. Kevin Durant is a 4-time NBA champion and has proven himself in different teams over the years.
On the other hand, Luka Doncic helped the Dallas Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals last to last season. However, he is yet to earn the kind of reputation that Durant possesses.
Still, Mitchell claimed that Durant was 7 ft tall and did not need a “bag,” like Doncic. Mitchell meant that Doncic had to learn more ways to hurt opponents, which does not mean that he is necessarily better at any aspect, than Kevin Durant:
“I think Luka. KD’s 7 feet, he don’t need a bag.”
how does not needing one mean he don’t have it

One fan questioned Mitchell’s take on KD, claiming that being tall did not mean he does not need a “bag.” Moving on, Mitchell also claimed that among Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and Doncic, it was the former who had the deeper bag. While the OKC Thunder star does not hold a candle to both Doncic and Durant offensively, he is a more willing defender.
Mitchel claimed that Shai had to face a lot of counters during games, which has forced him to develop a deeper bag than Luka Doncic.
“I gotta go Shai. Shai got counters upon counters, I mean, they both do.”
Bag is different than talent

A number of fans had a problem with the take, with one questioning whether Mitchell was calling Kevin Durant unskilled. Another fan explained that a “deeper bag” did not mean one player had more talent than the other.

Kevin Durant showed signs of decline with the Pheonix Suns
For years, Durant has shown a consistent ability to lift his teams and get them wins. The dominant power forward is one of the most fearsome players in the modern NBA.
However, the past season proved to be challenging for Durant. After joining a talented Suns’ team alongside Devin Booker and Chris Paul, Durant was expected to help the Suns to an NBA title.
However, consistent injury issues and some poor shooting games against the Denver Nuggets saw the Suns crash out. By numbers, Durant still had a highly successful season, averaging 26 points per game with the Suns. However, his inability to deliver when it mattered the most for his team proved surprising, considering the talent he was surrounded with.
