“Steph Curry and James Harden are worse artists than LeBron James and Kevin Durant”: When the MVP guards recorded a 3-minute long remix for Footlocker in 2013

Steph Curry and James Harden recorded a full remix for Footlocker in 2013 that was somehow worse than Kevin Durant and LeBron James’s song.

Footlocker commercials from the 2010s released some of the best NBA-related content with superstars from Nike, Adidas, and more, collaborating on a single commercial.

Steph Curry and James Harden were quite prominent in these adverts, especially the latter as he’d appeared in commercials alongside Charles Barkley, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis.

However, his magnum opus in terms of Footlocker commercials was when he ‘hit the studio’ with Steph Curry to help jumpstart his singing career.

Seeing Curry in this advert was quite odd mainly due to the fact that he was wearing a Nike t-shirt. Considering the fact that this was around the time when Nike fumbled their deal with Steph, him having a ‘swoosh’ on his shirt is a rare sighting.

James Harden on the other hand, was still signed to Nike, hence the insignia on his tee but would later sign a whopping 13 year/ $200 million deal with Adidas after finishing 2nd in MVP voting behind none other than, Steph Curry.

Steph Curry and James Harden starred in a Footlocker commercial and later released a song

The Footlocker commercial starts off with James Harden sitting on a barstool and singing in a voice that can only be associated with a 14-year-old pubescent male. Steph Curry then enters the studio and tries to convince ‘the Beard’ to give up his soul and hip-hop career and focus on basketball.

Harden then convinces Curry to let him sing as he believes he has real talent. The producer then plays the 2x MVP a sample, to which both the superstar guards cringe, with James in disbelief that it is actually him on the track. This commercial became an instant classic and to add to the virality of the advert, released a full 3+ minute version of the song.

Somehow, Steph Curry and James Harden managed to make LeBron James and Kevin Durant look like slightly above average artists upon releasing, ‘Harden Soul’. The song garnered over 800k views on single video on YouTube.
