"Stop DISRESPECTING Trae Young": Former NBA Champ and NBA Twitter Call Out Players Who Voted Hawks Guard 'Most Overrated'

The Atlanta Hawks looked completely down and out after Games 1 and 2 against the Boston Celtics. Jayson Tatum’s side obliterated them in the first two games in TD Garden. However, Trae Young and Co have made a comeback with a statement win in State Farm Arena and the series now stands at 1-2.

After back-to-back inefficient games averaging 20 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists on 35% shooting from the field and 23% from the 3-point line, he has finally found “Ice Trae”.

NBA Twitter led by Kendrick Perkins asks for the disrespect of Trae Young to stop

Young got himself 31 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal while getting the Hawks a much-needed 130-122 win on Friday. And finally, the NBA community, including Big Perk, came around to ask for some respect for the point guard.

Talking about the disrespect, this man just had a 26-point–10 assist season while playing 73 games, but did not get an All-Star selection, whereas somebody like Zion Williamson played 29 games in the season and made it there averaging 26-7-4. That too in the West.

And then the players also voted him the most overrated player of the 2022-23 season in a secret poll conducted by The Athletic.

What does this mean for Young and the Hawks?

If this team and Head Coach Quin Snyder believe in Trae then they can still run it back, no matter what has been said and done by the Hawks management earlier. A lot of that depends on how this series ends for this team though.

Young doesn’t particularly have to series-make an upset for it. Nobody expects the Hawks to win against the Celtics this season. However, he can make the series interesting by going back to his 2021 self where he and a young Atlanta team eliminated the Philadelphia 76ers from the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

Half of what he did back then, could prolong his stay in Atlanta. But let’s see what he brings for Game 4.
