“There’s gonna be problems for those Boston Celtics this year”: Team USA leader Kevin Durant hilariously throws shade at the Celtics while hyping up newest Nets teammates during the victory ceremony

Soon after Patty Mills dropped 42 points in Australia’s historic bronze-medal match, Kevin Durant decided to hype up his newest Brooklyn Nets teammate by jokingly mocking the Boston Celtics.

The Brooklyn Nets were well represented at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Team USA leader and Brooklyn MVP Kevin Durant led his nation to their fourth-consecutive gold medal at the Olympic Games. The Nets forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot played a vital role in helping France clinch their first Olympic silver medal since Sydney 2000. And newest signing Patty Mills led Australia to win the bronze, their first-ever medal at the event.

Clearly, all three of these Brooklyn players had a terrific Tokyo 2020 campaign. Patty Mills, who signed a $12 million, 2-year contract with the Nets on Wednesday night, had an outstanding 42-point night to help the Boomers overcome Luka Doncic and his Slovenian team in their bronze-medal bout, winning the encounter 107-93.

There were only happy faces during the victory ceremony. Of course, it isn’t every day you win a medal for your country. Kevin Durant was one of the several fans who was left in awe looking at Patty’s insane 42-point winning performance. During the victory ceremony, the Durantula went live on Instagram was seen hyping up his newest Brooklyn teammate.

While gassing up Mills, KD funnily threw shade at the Boston Celtics. The 3-time Olympic Gold-Medal winner said:

“Patty coming back to the BK. Black and white.”

“Hey, you balling! You had 40 tonight.”

And went on to shout:

“There’s gonna be problems for those Boston Celtics this year. I’m telling you.”

If you listen closely, Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics superstar, managed to hear what Durant had to say about his team and decided to scream back:

“F**k outta here.”

Brooklyn already has a pretty stacked team with Durant, Harden and Irving leading the Nets. Adding a 12-year experienced veteran like Patty Mills will only be beneficial for the Eastern Conference powerhouses. It definitely will be interesting to see how well does Patty adjust to his new team. And whether or not the title-favourites Brooklyn Nets are able to win the 2022 NBA Championship.
