"Trae Young Sent Barefoot Tonight": Hawks Guard's 'King of Broadway' Message Misfires Post Debacle Against Knicks

Hawks guard Trae Young has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons off-late. According to several reports last week, the two-time All-Star got into a bit of a dispute with head coach Nate McMillan, fueling further speculations was the former’s absence from the game against the Nuggets.

Fortunately for the Hawks fans, the situation was sorted out later in what was revealed to be a miscommunication between Young and McMillan. Things haven’t looked too impressive for the 6ft 1″ guard on the professional front, especially over the last 5-games.

Nonetheless, this hasn’t ever stopped him from talking smack on the court, and if it’s the New York Knicks sky is the limit. The toxic relationship between the fans at Madison Square Garden and Ice Trae is no secret, with it all stemming from their playoff battle in 2021.

There is no hiding the hostility displayed by both parties against each other during their meetings over the last one and a half years. The most recent case of this being the message on the Hawks guard’s shoes as he visited the basketball mecca.

Trae Young’s attempt to mock the Knicks falls flat.

Rejoicing his villain tag, Young was all geared up to visit the Knicks on Wednesday night. With the Hawks visiting the basketball mecca, a tense environment was predicted.

Making light of the situation, Young decided to mock the fans at MSG, wearing kicks that read, ‘King of Broadway.’

This time around, the Knicks fans would have the last laugh, given their comfortable win over the visiting Hawks, with Young having a disappointing performance going 9-for-20 from the field, coupled with 4-turnovers.

Knicks fans go on a rampage after an impressive win over the Hawks.

Post his recent loss against the Knicks, Young now has a 4-11 record against the MSG team. Thus it was only a matter of time before fans at the Garden would celebrate in a wild fashion, making their distaste for the Hawks guard evident.

Currently, with a 13-12 record, the Hawks host the Knicks next month before Young and co visit the Mecca again in the month of February. Thus it will be interesting to see who ends up as the winner in the regular season series of 3 games.
