Lakers had the chance to go 2 up on the Warriors Thursday night, but their Playoff MVP, Anthony Davis, had the worst game of his post-season. What should have been a statement game for him in the absence of Dubs big, Kevon Looney, from the starting line-up, turned out to be an outing that would bring down the trust of his teammates, which he worked to develop for the last 7 games and during their late run to qualify for the Playoffs.

Obviously, nobody in the Purple and Gold camp would speak openly about it, not after just one bad game. But Skip Bayless would. The veteran Fox Sports analyst did not hold back and went off on AD after the 127-100 loss.

The 71-year-old FS1 analyst might be one of the biggest closeted LeBron James fans, who has made a career out of criticizing the King every chance he gets. And so, his teammates too sometimes get in the way.

Davis, who put up just 11 points and 7 rebounds in his team’s latest loss at the Chase Center in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semis, is the latest casualty.

Bayless did not hold back and said that recently hired big, Tristan Thompson should get more time by slashing the 8x All-Star’s minutes.

“Maybe Tristan Thompson should start getting some of Anthony Davis’ minutes. At least you can trust his effort,” Tweeted Skip after the game.

Obviously, Bayless is not serious with this take of his. However, it’s notable through his series of Tweets following this Lakers loss, that Skip has a soft corner for LeBron James and Co.

Can Davis make a comeback from this?

Looking at the scoring pattern of The Brow’s last 7 games in the Playoffs before Game 2 against the Dubs, his shortcoming was predictable. His inconsistency was a point of discussion on almost all the NBA shows in the sports media before Thursday’s game.

Now that he has had his one bad game, Lakers fans would expect him to deliver big in Game 3. However, even if they win that one, Davis will have to continue to dominate consistently for the Lakers to win this series and the NBA title, if that’s their target.

For now, beating the Dubs in Games 3 and 4 and going 3-1 up on them, should be their top priority. They would not want to be on level terms with this team after just witnessing what happened with the Kings.
