“We can’t keep drenching Russell Westbrook every time he breaks his own record”: Scott Brooks jokingly praises his Wizards star after his historic feat
Russell Westbrook has had a massive impact this season for the Wizards as they return to the postseason for the first time since 2018.
The Washington Wizards have had a very slow start to the season. But once the chemistry between Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal started building they gradually gained momentum. Still, their poor start meant that the Wizards were always on the chasing front.
Westbrook’s arrival has been the game changer for the Wizards. The point guard has emerged as the leader of this team dropping triple-doubles consistently. There is hardly any player in the league who can match his athleticism, raw energy and sheer determination to go out there and give their all.
The Brody recently broke Oscar Robertson mammoth triple-double record in the 124-125 loss against the Atlanta Hawks registering his 182nd triple-double.
On his return back to the Capital One Arena the 32-year-old was honoured by the franchise with a framed Wizards jersey with the 182 number imprinted on the back. it was a pre-game ceremony that took place before the Wizards went up against the Cavaliers.
Proving his greatness again, Westbrook led the charge and played a big role in the Wizards’ 120-105 win over the Cavs. The Brody finished the game with insane numbers as he dropped 21 points, 17 assists and 12 boards registering his 183rd triple-double in NBA history. It was a very crucial win for the Wizards as they now have clinched a spot in the play-in tournament.
Westbrook was drenched in the locker room by his teammates going against their coach Scott Brooks
The Brody keeps on breaking records this season as the 17 assists that he registered against the Cavs made it seven straight games with 15+ assists. It was also his 37th triple-double of the season in 64 appearances for the franchise.
In celebration of clinching the play-ins and also Westbrook’s legendary achievement, the players drenched Russ in the locker. They went against their coach Scott Brooks who was not a fan of the idea.
“We can’t keep drenching Russell every time he breaks his own record,” Brooks said. “We’re gonna have mold issues with the carpet.”
The Wizards doused Russell Westbrook in water in the locker room after the game, against Scott Brooks’ approval.

Although they have clinched a spot in the play-ins, the Wizards hold a 33-38 record and are only 0.5 games adrift of the Indiana Pacers and Charlotte Hornets. This allows them a slim chance to climb to 8th position as they wrap up things in the regular season after facing the Hornets.
