'Who needs James Harden?': Rockets announcer makes hysterical joke mocking The Beard after Christian Wood puts on dominant showing

The Rockets have been feeling themselves with or without James Harden in the lineup for their preseason games.

They’ve won 3 of their 4 fixtures so far, their only loss coming at the hands of the Bulls. The morale of the team is pretty high except that of Harden, who seems to be conspiring to get out of Houston. It is said to be an open secret that the Beard wants away from H-Town.

There have been rumors linking him to destinations like Philadelphia, Miami, Brooklyn and Milwaukee. But there hasn’t been any concrete news of a real trade being in the works. Many believe that the Rockets will only let their franchise player go for a star player and picks in return.

There is an air of negativity surrounding all things Harden at the moment. The Beard was also spotted partying up with rapper Lil Baby in Atlanta, and then Las Vegas. Harden missed valuable practice time with the team, and looks way off from his desired in-season physique.

Announcer disses James Harden while praising Christian Wood

In all honesty, once you look at the play, you realize that the commentator speaks only half-jokingly about James. This moment came early on in the game, with Harden still on the floor.

Christian Wood snagged a defensive rebound and set off down the floor like a gazelle. Wood laid the ball in after going coast-to-coast, making a great mid-air adjustment for his finish and the and-1.

Over the course of the night, Wood stamped his authority on the game. He finished with figures of 27 points and 10 rebounds as the Rockets cantered to a win on the night. There was little to nothing that the Spurs’ big men could do either to him or Cousins on the interior.
