“Who’s Your Daddy?”: LeBron James and Lakers Face Chants From Nuggets Crowd as Nikola Jokic and Co. Secure Win on Ring Night
The Denver Nuggets finally achieved something tonight that they had been waiting for in the 56 years of their franchise’s history: a Championship banner. Taking on LeBron James and the Lakers on Opening Night, the Nuggets received their Championship rings, as well as saw their banner go up in the rafters.

Along with getting their rings and raising the banner, the Nuggets also kicked off the 2023-24 regular season with a bang. Hosting the Lakers, Nikola Jokic and his Nuggets secured a 119-107 win. It was the perfect way to start off their title defense, and the Denver crowd couldn’t agree more.
In fact, with about 1:15 left in the 4th quarter, the Nuggets were up 115-103, and Darvin Ham sat down his starters, essentially waiving the white flag. However, the Nuggets crowd decided to have some fun. They started a chant for the Lakers. The crowd could be heard saying,
“Who’s your Daddy?”

This is a direct reference to how Nuggets’ HC Michael Malone was introduced during the Championship Parade back in June.

The statement caused a lot of outrage back then, including a reaction from Darvin Ham. We can sure expect the crowd’s chanting to also draw some reactions.
NBA Twitter reacts to Nuggets’ crowd’s chants for LeBron James and the Lakers
The Denver Nuggets won their championship just over 4 months ago. We get that their fans want to show off how proud they are. However, sometimes, fans can cross lines. From what it looks like, people think these chants were over the top. A fan brought out the history between the teams and wrote,
Lol we’ve dominated them in the playoffs in years past in route to multiple championships but then they finally beat us to win their first ever championship and now they’re our daddy? 😂

The fan isn’t off. The Lakers and the Nuggets have played 8 Playoff series, with the 2023 WCF being the only time the Nuggets have secure the win.
Meanwhile, another fan was disappointed by what he saw from his Lakers, and didn’t mind the chants.
Tbh they can chant whatever they want at this point, terrible game by everyone outside of LeBron and Prince

AD and LeBron James have often been called the best Lakers duo since Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. However, a fan showed the reality of the same.
lmfaooo no fan dared to scream whos your daddy to a Kobe or Shaq led team

It is clear that the fans weren’t happy with the Lakers’ efforts tonight. We’ll have to see if they can do some course correction on Thursday against the Suns.
