‘Why is Kawhi Leonard not hated like LeBron James or Kevin Durant?’: NBA Reddit calls out Clippers star for shady Spurs and Paul George moves

Staying off social media and the limelight has saved Kawhi Leonard from Kevin Durant, LeBron James level of hate.

Over the last 3 and a half years, Kawhi Leonard has raised tons of eyebrows for his actions. From being possibly the NBA’s least hated star, he’s now one of the villains of the league. But fans on NBA Reddit believe that he should be under even more scrutiny than ever.

There is now a significant faction of NBA fans who have gotten reasons to hate on the 2-time Finals MVP. Leonard gets bodied by Spurs fans, Raptors fans and Lakers fans alike. While the first two fanbases are aggrieved by the manner in which he forced his way out, the Lakers have even more going on.

The manner in which Kawhi turned down the most storied franchise in league history is one reason. The other is how after all the buildup as a potential rival, the Clippers came a cropper in the playoffs.

NBA Reddit has brought back in focus one of the threads from 2019. There’s a comment which goes:

“Kawhi Leonard receives far too much undeserved praise. His handling of the whole situation in San Antonio was slimy as fuck, and the PG trade is shady as well. He gets lauded for things that people would hate Lebron or KD for.”

LeBron fans…

– hate on Kawhi, a guy who doesn’t even open his mouth
– ridicule Steph Curry, a humble family man, and his WIFE
– mock Giannis, also a humble family man, just for winning MVP
– crucify Michael Jordan, someone their idol worshipped as a kid

Clearly, the tide surrounding Leonard has turned quite a bit, despite him staying out of antics. A more visible star like Kyrie Irving would definitely be accosted a lot more for the stuff Kawhi is accused of.
