Years After Shaquille O'Neal Avoided Antognizing Dwyane Wade, Heat Legend Cracks the Code On How To Make it to NBA

Shaquille O’Neal left the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004 following a feud with Kobe Bryant. He soon joined the Miami Heat, to play alongside young rookie Dwayne Wade for 4 seasons. After which, Shaq admitted he could not be as tough on Wade as he was on Kobe. This was because he believed that Wade might not have been able to handle his tough love.   But whether he was tough enough or not, Dwyane was inarguably a deeply cerebral player during his time in the NBA. Especially during the peak of his powers, the Heat legend played off his teammates perfectly, getting absolutely everyone going, while getting his own in bunches too. And recently, it is that smartness that he attempted to inculcate into his son, Zaire Wade while speaking on ‘cracking the NBA code’.

Dwayne Wade advises his son on how to crack the code to the NBA

Dwayne Wade was in the NBA for 16 years, spending almost 13 of those seasons with the Miami Heat. In the video, Wade appears to be in a practice session with his son Zaire, feeding him all the knowledge he learned the hard way. More specifically, he gave his son valuable tips on how to make it through and, more importantly, keep his place in the NBA. Speaking to his son, Wade advised in order to crack the code, he would need to work hard every single day to make it to a team, calling it ‘hard work’. Take a look at his speech in the Instagram post by ‘Corysmithhoops‘ below.

To explain his point, DWade used Luka Doncic’s example, one of the smartest players in the league today. He kept re-iterating playing with his brain, rather than with muscles and athleticism, an essential point for a player looking to be great. However, as per 247 Sports, Zaire Wade seems to be pretty advanced in that field already, with his best skill being his ‘elite’ vision. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree after all. But, it may still be a bit too early to make any real predictions on his career.

Dwayne’s son Zaire is struggling at the moment

Despite being mentored by his father, Zaire Wade hasn’t been able to make the NBA. He was selected as a 10th Pick for Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League draft 2021. However, he only played for a year before being ruled out due to injury. He now plays for the Cape Town Tigers of the Basketball Africa League.
