“You tell em you’re Tiger Woods”: When Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter had to give dating advice to the golf GOAT to settle his nerves in a New York nightclub

Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods are the two most dominant and successful men in their respective sports over the past 50 years or so.

Woods adored MJ, and often stated that he wanted to emulate Black Jesus on and off the course. On the course, he definitely did his part – no player has dominated golf quite in the way Woods did. At one point, it seemed like Woods was incapable of losing. The ‘Tiger’ nickname stuck for a reason.

Woods was later found to be cheating on his wife with multiple women, at the fag end of his dominant run. He went through a messy divorce and took a sabbatical from his golf career at the end of the 2000s.

But there was also a time that instead of chatting up multiple girls at the same time, Woods was shy. He got given some serious advice by Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter on how to use his fame like a charm.

According to Tiffany Masters, a former VIP host in Las Vegas, the hosts would pick out girls to party with Woods, Jordan and Barkley during their trips to Sin City. “In that entourage, Tiger was a bit of a geek,” Masters said.

Author Armen Keteyian also claimed Woods sought girl advice from Jordan. “Michael, to ever-loving credit, goes, ‘You tell them you’re Tiger Woods,’” Keteyian said. “His ability to live a double-life, it started in Vegas.”

One night he went to a club in New York with Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan. Jeter and Jordan blended in, talking with ease to one beautiful woman after another. At one point, Tiger walked up to them and asked the question that lives in the heart of every junior high boy and nearly every grown man too.

Jeter and Jordan looked at each other, then back at Tiger, sort of stunned.

Go tell ’em you’re Tiger Woods, they said.
