It seems Deion Sanders is launching an attack on his opponents with his dominating run. CU won their second game of the season which is a great start considering last year’s 1-11 record. Coach Prime is committed to the team however in a recent piece of news it was revealed that if he decides to leave Colorado (which seems far-fetched), then he would have to pay a whopping sum of $15,000,000 to the team.

Brian Howell, who is Colorado Buffaloes’ beat writer tweeted an informative detail on Coach Prime’s $29,500,000 contract last year when the deal was getting finalized. It was a huge gamble played by the team’s athletic director Rick George, since Colorado did not have the money to pay for it.
Deion Sanders Needs To Pay $15,000,000 To Decommit to Colorado
George relied on the fans to make CU a big hit and to generate maximum revenue from ticket sales which they did. On top of that, they even collected $28 million in donations that fans had collected to support Coach Prime’s vision. It all paid off as the Buffs are dominating this season. Speaking of his contract, Prime received $5.5 million for his debut year, but as per the deal, if he leaves the team in his first year, he would have to pay $15 million.
Sanders would owe CU $15M if he leaves in the first year, $10M if he leaves in the 2nd year, $8M in the third year and $5M if he leaves after that. If Colorado fires Sanders at any point without cause, the school would owe him 75% of his remaining contract. #cubuffs

That said, if Colorado ends up firing Coach Prime at any point in time for any reason, they would owe the NFL legend a good 75 percent of his remaining contract. This is bizarre to think when compared to the contract of previous CU coach Karl Dorrell. Dorell signed a five-year, $18 million deal, which was then the highest-paid football coach in Buffs history. However, he was fired a few months later when CU witnessed a disastrous start to the 2022 season.
Coach Prime Received a $5,000,000 Salary Pool To Hire Assistant Coaches
Coach Prime is turning things around. His incredible and starring presence has made everyone believe in the program. However, it was not a one-man’s game to make it happen. Prime was very vocal about the incredible staff that he had hired. But he was also given a whopping $5 million in salary cap to hire a top-class coaching staff.
Just as big for CU is that they’ve given Sanders $5 million for his assistant coach salary pool. The salary pool this year was roughly $4 million, the highest ever at Colorado. #cubuffs

Coach Dorrell on the other hand was given a $4 million salary cap for the coaches. However, Coach Prime, who is though paid a huge sum, is creating a magical impact through his presence and the Prime Effect is definitely visible everywhere.
