The Big Slick Celebrity weekend in Kansas City was a sight to behold, from start to finish. If the array of stars entertaining all weekend long was not enough, then the amount they collected would surely make your day. Fans and stars alike celebrated at the T-Mobile Center as they raised a record-breaking $3,500,000 this year. Thanks in part to Patrick Mahomes, and his $225,000 autographed footballs.

The Big Slick Celebrity Weekend brought together a number of stars, most of whom were Kansas City Natives. Hollywood Stars Paul Rudd and Heide Gardner, Chiefs’ Mahomes, and Travis Kelce, and AFC Richmond head coach Ted Lasso (a.k.a. Jason Sudeikis) attended the weekend festivities, including a 4-hour show at the T-Mobile Center to mark the end of the weekend.

Patrick Mahomes auctioned autographed footballs to raise money for charity

The show at the T-Mobile Center included a variety of acts and activities. A hot wings competition, stand-up skits from Aisling Bea, and musical performances from “Weird Al” Yankovic, Chris Daughtry, and David Cook. Though the highlight of the night was the auction, where celebrities promised a wide range of things in an attempt to raise money. Funnily, that included a lap dance from Punkie Johnson too.

Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes also had something to offer for the auction. The 2x Super Bowl winner put up 15 autographed footballs which were sold at $15,000 each. Raising a total of $225,000 through his donations, Mahomes helped the charity make some serious progress in its quest to outdo its performance from years prior.

Big Slick has been constantly growing ever since it was founded in 2010. Hosts Paul Rudd and Heidi Gardner were ecstatic to reveal to the 5,500-strong crowd their tremendous achievement this year. For this year, Big Slick ended up collecting a record $3.5 million, raising their combined total of all 14 years to $21 million.

Big Slick holds these events in an attempt to raise money for Children’s Mercy, an independent health organization. The hope is that this money will help in their quest to eradicate pediatric cancer. The organization also runs not-for-profit clinics in Missouri and Kansas City.

Mahomes will be hoping his good karma gets him another Super Bowl ring

Patrick Mahomes is certainly becoming a hero in Kansas City. Not just because of his philanthropic nature, but because he is literally taking the city to great heights. With a new contract and a strong team behind him, fans will be hoping to see Mahomes compete once again for the biggest prize on offer.

As much as the Chiefs are the favorites, they still have a few strong opponents to get by. Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets creates yet another obstacle for the Chiefs to navigate around in their quest to defend their title. Not to forget, the Bills and the Bengals will be keen on making sure the Chiefs do not have it easy. Can Mahomes and the Chiefs retain the Vince Lombardi trophy this season?
