The Pittsburgh Steelers victory over their bitter rivals Cleveland Browns did not end in the fairytale fashion they were hoping for. Their hopes for a playoff berth were crushed as the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets. However, their woes did not end. The Steelers have been getting it from all directions. After a couple of their players thought a CPR skit was a fun way to celebrate a sack.

Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith crashes to the ground right after he sacks Browns’ QB Deshaun Watson in the 4th quarter. As he lay on the turf, a teammate runs over to celebrate with him, and ends up play-administering CPR on Highsmith. Highsmith does not appear to stop him either, rather he seemed complacent in the act. The act did not last very long, thankfully, as Highsmith soon got up and walked off.
There has been immense outrage at this celebration from the Steelers. Just a week before, Buffalo Bills safety and Pittsburgh native Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after tackling Cincinnati Bengals’ Tee Higgins last Monday. Although there has been no report or allegations of the players speaking out against the Hamlin situation, the timing of their celebration did not go down well with many.
NFL community disappointed as Pittsburgh Steelers perform mock CPR on field
Fans all across the spectrum were disappointed, and angry at the Steelers for their insensitive act. While some brushed it off as a common celebration, a lot many feel that the events of the recent past should have been a deterrent. There are also fans who feel the Steelers must take action against the players for making a mockery of the Hamlin situation.
Did the @steelers defense really just do a CPR celebration???? How dense can you be?!

Shoutout to the Steelers for choosing literally the WORST possible sack celebration this week… pic.twitter.com/MNYB5EqMtI

I’d like to know how Damars parents feel when they see this and I don’t care how many teams do it or how long they’ve been doing it.

I think that you should be fined. That is disgusting what you did on the field today. I don’t no who raised you but you should of been brought up better than that. I hope you never have to deal with this happening to someone you love. Tomlinson should bench you and the other guy.

And this is why the Steelers lost

Yeah that’s super tone deaf. I get it’s a common enough celly that it’s in madden, and I assume it was just a lack of thought not an intentional thing, but yikes.

Makes me even happier they’re eliminated from the playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers successfully managed to beat their long-time rivals, the Browns, in the last game of the regular season. Although their chances of making the playoffs were slim, there was still hope as they went into their final game. However, those hopes were dashed when the Dolphins managed a last-gasp win against the Jets, hurtling them toward the playoffs.
While the Steelers lament over their lost opportunity this season, the Browns had already lost their race long ago. So another loss might not be that big a disappointment for them. However, losing to their rivals is definitely going to set off some sparks, as it has many times in the past. Hopefully, they would have calmed down before their next meeting, next season.
