“I’m finally done paying for Stephon Diggs”: Bill GM Brandon Beane reacts to not having a 4th round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

In only 3 years as the Buffalo Bills General Manager, Brandon Beane has solidified himself as one of the best GMs in the whole league. While he is considered elite at identifying new young talent, trading for star wideout Stephon Diggs will be probably be regarded as one of the best moves he has made. And 1 year later, he joked about what he had to give up.

Brandon Beane built one of the most successful Bill’s team in only 3 years as the GM. Beane and coach Sean McDermott have molded the Bills (13-3) into a football powerhouse that had the best season in Buffalo since 1993 by advancing to the AFC Championship game. And thus he was named Executive of the Year at the 2021 by PFWA.

Brandon Beane joked about not having a 4th round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

The Buffalo Bills made the playoffs in 2019 but fell out in only their first playoff game against the Texans. Which is why Beane decided to trade for Minnesota Vikings star receiver Stephon Diggs.

The Buffalo Bills acquired the Vikings receiver and a 2020 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2020 first-round pick (No. 22 overall), a 2020 fifth-round pick, a 2020 sixth-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Monday. 1 year later, Beane could not be happier with his trade.

Stephon Diggs to Buffalo turned out to be the missing piece for the Bills in 2020. And the massive improvements in QB Josh Allen’s game helped Stephon Diggs break out and become one of the best receivers in the game. Diggs caught 127 catches for a massive 1,535 yards, both of which led the NFL. And Allen and Diggs became one of the best QB-Receiver tandems in the entire league.

The Vikings – Bills trade was one of the few trades in NFL history where both Parties benefitted tremendously. Stephon Diggs wanted out of the Vikings. And he put up historic numbers in 2020 with the Bills, taking his game to another level. And the Vikings drafted LSU WR Justin Jefferson, who set the rookie receiving yards record, with the 22nd overall pick that they landed from the Bills.

The Buffalo Bills will likely be just as dominant in 2021, if not more. Josh Allen look to replicate his MVP like season, and Diggs will hope to put up the numbers that earned him an All-Pro selection. It will be very interesting to see how the Buffalo Bills do in 2021.
