Julio Jones

Julio Jones has finally been traded. After weeks of speculation, Jones is going to be a Tennessee Titan in a blockbuster deal.

The former All-Pro receiver publicly expressed his desire to be traded this offseason including a public revelation on national TV. The Titans were always considered front-runners in a potential trade, and well, now it’s almost official.

The news first broke on Twitter as it always does:

A player of Julio Jones’ caliber changing teams is set to dramatically alter the NFL landscape. The Titans and Falcons may have both won this trade, but that will only be evident after the season starts.

How Will Julio Jones Help The Tennessee Titans? What Impact Will Julio Jones Have On  The Tennessee Titans Roster?

Julio Jones is going to make an immediate impact on the Titans roster. The perennial Pro Bowler had an injury riddled year last season, but he still managed to turn in 771 yards in 9 games played.

Further, the Titans are down bad in their receiving core. After losing both Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith, the Titans and quarterback Ryan Tannehill lost two of their top three receiving threats. Corey Davis turned in a career high 984 yards last year, and Jonnu Smith caught 8 touchdowns.

Bringing in Julio will help the Titans on both those fronts. Yes, Jones is getting up there in age, but he has still not shown that he’s declining in any form. In the 2019-20 season, Jones recorded 1,394 yards. With a new scheme, and the desire to win, Jones may feel reinvigorated.

The Titans now have a formidable QB-WR-HB trio. Derrick Henry is by far the best pure runner in the league, Ryan Tannehill has more than shown that he’s more than just a game manager, and Julio Jones is Julio Jones.

Not to mention, wide receiver AJ Brown is no slouch either. Brown hauled in 1,075 yards last year to go along with 11 touchdowns. Now that he has Jones lining up alongside him, he’s sure to get more chances to get open as Julio will naturally draw attention. The AFC South and the league should watch out for these Titans.
