Justin Fields is working hard over the offseason, and reportedly, he’s already miles ahead of where he was last year. He’s been training with Michael Vick and NFL scouts are predicting that he could potentially pass Trevor Lawrence this year. Not only that, but one NFL scout also believes an MVP year isn’t too far out of the realm of possibility for Fields. The Bears quarterback was drafted in 2021 to turn the franchise around, and this could be the year he shows everyone why.

Fields broke out on to the scene last year, in his sophomore year, particularly with his legs. He nearly broke the NFL rushing record for a quarterback in a single year, falling just 63 yards behind Lamar Jackson’s record. He was a force to be reckoned with, setting the quarterback rushing record for a single regular season game with 178 yards against the Dolphins. However, there’s still a lot left to be desired with his passing. The Bears have had a solid offseason so far, and that should help him tremendously.
Can Justin Fields’ training with Michael Vick take him past Trevor Lawrence and help him win an MVP?
There are a lot of questions surrounding Fields’ skills as a passer. Of course, he hasn’t had the greatest group of receivers and pass blockers to rely on, but does that suffice as an excuse?
Well, we’ll have to find out this year. Fields training with Michael Vick is a very encouraging sign. Vick was the first quarterback who earned the “dual threat” moniker, destroying opposition with how quick he was but also being able to air it out when needed.
Fields knows he has the same capability, he just has to put it all together now. He was especially good in the play-action and rollout game last year.
Justin Fields had the NFL’s highest passer rating with 138.5 on designed rollouts, and the Bears called them on just 19 of Fields’ attempts.

Now from NFL Rookie Watch, Fields could improve so much this year to where he overtakes 2021 first-overall pick Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence has been the best quarterback in Fields’ draft class by far, and he’s only set to get better. That’s why this claim is definitely a bold one to make
Justin Fields is reportedly “miles ahead” of where he was last year at the conclusion of minicamp.
One NFL scout recently said he would be “shocked” if Fields isn’t an MVP candidate.

The Bears have done a lot to build around Fields this offseason. They first went out and traded for WR D.J. Moore, a top-ten pass catcher in the league to give Fields the best target he’s had since being drafted. They also prioritized the atrocious offensive line, drafting RT Darnell Wright with the 10th overall pick this year.
Things are looking up in Chicago, and NFL scouts are noticing it. Who knows, maybe we do finally see the true Justin Fields this year. If we do, it’ll be a sight to behold.
Fields faces a crucial year ahead
No quarterback has received as much hype and attention coming into the 2023-24 season as Justin Fields. There’s a good reason too, considering all the moves the Chicago Bears made in the offseason, but it also creates a tremendous amount of pressure.
This will be Fields’ third year in the league, and if he still can’t show he’s worthy of being a franchise star, the Chicago Bears will face another tough question when it comes to the quarterback position. Everyone thought Fields was the perfect resolution to the Mitch Trubisky disaster, but what if it isn’t?
More than that, Fields is also going to be nearing the end of his rookie deal soon, and if he wants a big contract, he’ll need to earn it.
