“I can’t live without my boxing gloves,” said Micah Parsons when asked about his passion outside football. A 6-3, 250-pound athlete, Micah believes that boxing helps him to block his opponents more effectively and thereby strengthens the Packers’ defense.

Notably, Micah’s defensive skills were on display when the Packers beat the Commanders 27-18 on Thursday. Fans even playfully “thanked” Jerry Jones for letting Micah become a Packer. Watching the game closely, one can see how his boxing training helps him take control of his movements to maximize his impact on the field.

In a freewheeling chat with GQ Sports, Micah opened up about his love for boxing and how Amari Cooper inspired his journey.

“I fell in love with boxing because of my OG Amari Cooper. Boxing has been one of the best workouts, especially as a pass rusher,” Micah said. He added, “Then I started researching the sport. I really fell in love with boxing. It has been an eye-opener for me. These guys are true warriors. They die in that ring. I support everything they do.”

So far, Micah has recorded 1.5 sacks in two games, a small start compared to his 12-sack season last year. But it is early in the season, and he will look to turn it up when the Packers face the Browns next week.

Meanwhile, Micah is also open to the idea of celebrity boxing once his football career is over. “I’d do a celebrity boxing match. Jake Paul, we can line it up. Logan Paul, we can do that. Ochocinco, we can do that. Post football though, post football,” he admitted.

Earlier, on November 15, 2024, Paul faced the legendary Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Texas. And, the former won by unanimous decision after eight rounds, with scores of 80–72, 79–73, and 79–73. It was a contest that upset many Tyson fans and sparked a debate on whether Paul should face opponents of his age. In that light, Paul (28 years) can compete with Micah (26 years) without much concern about an age gap.

Meanwhile, Jerry Jones, who traded Micah to the Packers, too, confirmed that he has “no regrets” about the $188 million deal. Micah, now one of the most physically gifted athletes in Green Bay, has said he has “moved on” from his Cowboys chapter.

With focus on Micah looming large, he believes “practice makes things perfect.” Interestingly, Micah’s pregame workouts focus on enhancing his explosiveness and power. A typical workout session for him includes:

  • Box Jumps: To develop lower-body explosiveness.

  • Squats & Deadlifts: Building core strength and stability.

  • Landmine Presses: Improving shoulder strength and rotational power.

  • Dumbbell Rows: Enhancing upper-body pulling strength.

Now the question for NFL fans is whether Micah will keep using signature boxing moves to keep his opponents off balance as the season continues. We will get some hints on Sunday when the Packers face the Browns.
