Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski is one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the great sport. Although he decided to retire in 2019 after winning three Super Bowl titles for the New England Patriots, his good friend Tom Brady dragged him back into the league the very next season.

Rob had stated that recurring injuries had killed his willingness to keep giving his all to the NFL when he announced his first retirement. However, Brady managed to convince him to make a quick comeback and in the very first season for the Bucs, he ended up winning another Super Bowl.

Although he didn’t have a disastrous campaign during the 2021 season as his unit did make the playoffs, Gronk yet again decided to call it quits.

While many fans were expecting him to un-retire once again after Brady decided to come back within weeks, the GOAT tight end doesn’t really seem to be in a comeback mood, for now at least.

Tom Brady Spoiled a Fantastic WWE Storyline Involving Rob Gronkowski

As it turns out, after his first retirement in 2019, Gronk was gearing up to earn the big bucks in WWE. The world knows that Gronk has the physique and the personality a WWE star needs.

So developing a WWE storyline around Gronk was really a no brainer, especially after his retirement. However, all such plans went down the drain when Brady pulled Gronk back into the NFL and convinced him to play for the Buccaneers.

In a recent interview with The 10 Count, Mojo Rawley revealed how close Gronk was to getting involved in WWE after his first retirement. “The plan was to do a tag match with me and him at SummerSlam because it was in Boston that year,” Mojo stated.

He went on to add that he would have defeated Gronk in New England and the Tight End would have returned the favor to him in Saudi Arabia. Even Rob was excited about his WWE stint, however, Brady’s request to join him at the Bucs completely transformed things as Gronk just couldn’t say no to him.

“Rob had, I believe, $10 million or more on the table to go back for one season left on his contract, and it was a no-brainer,” Mojo revealed. Now, when Gronk seems to have no plans of making a comeback in the NFL, we can expect him to get involved in a major way with the WWE and without a doubt, fans will go berserk if something like this actually ends up happening.
